First stop in Cambodia was Siem reap. This is where the temples of Angkor wat are. Again with a tuktuk off to a new adventure. You can buy a day pass, a three day pas and a week but I thought three days would be enough. Beautiful temples and surroundings. Especially the three famous ones, Angkor wat, Angkor thom and the jungle temple. After two days of temples, I decided that I skipped the third day and I went to an orphanage to see a musical. Nice performance and I gave them a big tip. It was time for me to go to the capital of Cambodia, Phnomh Penh, to go to the post office and pick up my long lost credit card. Of course they did not speak a word English and with help from locals they gave me a big box with hundreds of letters, cards and other mail. So I spent a whole afternoon looking in the box to find anything with my name on it. It was not there. I hated Phnomh Penh. I was a walking freak show. Blond, blue eyes and a big butt. Kids were walking behind me like a giant, tuktuk drivers made me pay twice the price because I was so big and it used extra fuel, a woman came out from a shop, running to sell me a pair of pants so big, three men could fit in, screaming to me “I got elephant size for you”!!!. How embarrassing was that. I decided to escape to the coast and so I went to Sihanoukville. I came in a guesthouse not far from the beach. A nice and cosy place, where bikes were free to take. The First day I explored the surroundings and found a snake museum where I held my first snake ever. It was a boa constrictor weighing about 15 kilo. Pretty cool I must say. After a day of island hopping and snorkeling I got a nice tan and nice pictures from the under water life. It was a real paradise. Unfortunaly I had picked up a virus in the eyes and I could not see for two days. The owners and guests were very friendly and helped me out any way they could. In return, I helped out a girl who picked up a stalker along the way by taking her back to Phnom Pehn, after my eyes were healthy. |
